Recording system

A professional recording starts with a solid signal chain. In my work, I use only proven, professional solutions – both analogue and digital – that make it possible to achieve the highest sound quality already at the recording stage. I place particular emphasis on analogue preamps, high-end converters and a stable recording system. This allows me to avoid compromises and focus entirely on sound and music.

Preamps

In recordings, I primarily use analogue microphone preamps – both in the mixing console and in 500 series systems. I particularly value the character and dynamics of sound inspired by Neve and API designs. These types of circuits make it possible to achieve a defined attack, depth and natural saturation of the signal.

In addition to preamps, equalizers are also an important part of the signal chain – both for subtle correction and for creative sound shaping already at the recording stage. Depending on the project, I use different configurations, matching the signal chain to the character of the instrument and the production.

As experimental and alternative solutions, I also use preamps from Cranborne Audio and Warm Audio. For handling 500 series modules, I use professional racks by Heritage Audio, which ensure stable operation and high signal path quality.

Interfaces and conversion

The recording system is based on high-end converters from RME, Solid State Logic and Universal Audio. Depending on the situation and recording location, I use different hardware configurations.

When working with Universal Audio systems, I most often use Universal Audio Apollo interfaces, which offer stability, high processing quality and the ability to use real-time DSP processing. This setup makes it possible to maintain the highest recording quality without compromise.

Software

The main working environment is Avid Pro Tools, which has been the standard in professional recording studios for years. I most often work on Pro Tools 12, which provides stability and a proven workflow, as well as Reaper. More in the Software section

Microphones

In recordings, I use microphones from sE Electronics. An extensive microphone setup allows me to achieve high recording quality in different configurations and recording situations. I particularly value reliability and a well-designed mounting system, which significantly facilitates work during recording sessions.

Among the models I use is, among others, the sE Electronics V7X instrument microphone, as well as dedicated microphones for kick drum and percussion instruments. At the same time, I continuously experiment with other solutions, including custom-built designs (microphone modifications, capsule replacements, testing different configurations).

Cabling

The entire recording system is based on professional Mogami cabling. In the studio, I use high-quality dual cables, characterised by low capacitance, very good protection against interference and signal stability.
