Drum Recording

Professional drum recording for songs and instrumental pieces - from individual productions to full albums. The entire recording process is carried out online.

Miko Moon behind the drums in a recording studio.

The drum recording service is intended for musicians, producers, bands, and drummers who do not always have the conditions required for professional instrument recording. Online collaboration makes it possible to complete a recording regardless of location, while maintaining full control over sound and arrangement.

Recordings are carried out in a professional recording studio, using a multi-microphone setup, ambient microphones, and carefully selected instruments. Each project is treated individually - drums, cymbals, tuning, damping, and overall sound character are selected to match the specific track and musical style.

How the collaboration works

04Recording

Send an email with information about the recording you need. Describe the project and how you want the drums to sound. Include in your message:

  • genre, style, and tempo
  • reference links

If you already have a track prepared - make sure to send it. This can be:

  • audio recording
  • video recording
  • programmed drums
  • sheet music / MIDI file

Any additional information will help prepare the recording and speed up the process.

Before recording, information about session parameters will also be required, such as sample rate and bit depth. If you are not sure which settings to choose, consult your engineer or producer.

Consultation

The consultation is an essential part of the entire process, during which I gather the information needed to prepare the recording. During the online meeting, we go through the track, define what should be played and how, analyze the groove, the type of fills, and their length. We also discuss the sound of individual instruments and the stylistic direction - from traditional playing to more modern approaches combining different genres.

During the consultation, I also present my own ideas and variations that may influence the final shape of the drum part. The session takes place live from the project studio (DrumBox), so you can immediately hear the sound of the instruments and make informed decisions about the recording. This is also the stage where we define the final scope of work. If you decide not to continue, you only cover the cost of the consultation, billed hourly.

Possible workflows

01You have a demo or backing track

I record drums for your track.

02You have MIDI or programmed drums

I record live drums based on your arrangement.

03You have sheet music

I record the drum part exactly as written.

04You do not have a finished part

We create the drum arrangement together.

Recording session

This is the most important and at the same time the most demanding stage of the entire process. Although the direction is defined in the earlier steps, many elements must come together during the recording session to form a coherent result. Key factors include the appropriate drum kit selection, proper tuning, instrument configuration, and precise microphone placement, including ambient microphones. Input levels on preamps, monitoring system configuration, and the final performance according to the consultation are also essential.

The session is supervised by an experienced engineer. Drums recorded in the studio have been featured on many singles and albums across a wide range of musical styles.

Compare the sound before and after

Choose an example from the playlist and switch between the before and after versions. The player keeps the same playback position, making it easy to compare the difference in sound.

Drum sound mix

Compare the raw starting point with the version after the drum sound has been prepared.
